Brion Nuda Rosch

I’m very excited to post this after seeing it in the works and now come to life.

Here is artist Brion Nuda Rosch’s new book out now on Little Paper Planes Publishing. I was lucky enough to shoot the photos for the book. Please take a second to check it out.

Brion Nuda Rosch’s works—consisting of collages, paintings, installations, social projects and video—are inviting yet unpredictable. Through basic maskings, removals, and additions, he plumbs the profundity of placing one idea upon another, producing results not unlike a warm, soft chuckle. Rosch’s works function as signposts and touchstones of his own investigation into his singular understanding of the world. (Foreword by Zachary Royer Scholz)”

Zombieland

The first DVD I’m buying of 2010 is Zombieland, the directorial debut by my amazingly talented friend Ruben Fleischer (follow everything he does over at ruben.fm.) I saw this movie twice and think it could be one I watch often for years to come.

Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin “The horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies.”

Buy it on DVD or Blu-Ray over at Amazon.

Sony A850 DSLR

I love this camera. I finally broke down and bought the Sony A850 one of their 24.6 megapixel, full frame 35mm DSLRs. For me, this is the first DSLR I’ve used where it just felt amazing to shoot with it and felt like shooting a film camera. From the solid build of the camera itself…  amazing image quality, features like SteadyShot  Inside™ (in-camera image stabilization – works with
every lens) the beautiful huge bright pentaprism viewfinder, the sound of the shutter, 35mm Exmor™ CMOS sensor w/dual BIONZ processors delivers the best color around, a 3″ Xtra Fine LCD, and other components. For the lens, I’m using the Sony 28-75mm (with dreams of the Zeiss lenses they have someday.)

I would recommend this to anyone who wanted a full frame camera but couldn’t spend as much as some of the comparable cameras cost. I’m still learning a lot about Sony cameras but I think you’ll be very impressed. It doesn’t shoot video but that’s something that didn’t bother me for now. Also, there are A LOT of cameras out there. This is the one I decided on, I hope it’ll interest you in Sony’s newer cameras and how much awesome stuff they’re doing.

I’ve taken some photos with it over on my Flickr, they’re tagged with Sony A850.
Read about it at over at Sonystyle.com.
Get it at Amazon.

Lay Flat Meta

One of my favorite photographers Shane Lavalette is releasing the next edition of Lay Flat 02: Meta which is being released in February that you can pre order it now. The last one, also being the first one, was beautiful and I can’t wait to get my copy.

Here’s the meta:

“Edited by Shane Lavalette and Michael Bühler-Rose.

Lay Flat 02: Meta brings together the works of contemporary photographers whose images are conceptually engaged with the history, process and conventions of the medium itself. Photographs by Claudia Angelmaier, Semâ Bekirovic, Charles Benton, Walead Beshty, Lucas Blalock, Talia Chetrit, Anne Collier, Natalie Czech, Jessica Eaton, Roe Ethridge, Stephen Gill, Daniel Gordon, David Haxton, Matt Keegan, Elad Lassry, Katja Mater, Laurel Nakadate, Lisa Oppenheim, Torbjørn Rødland, Noel Rodo-Vankeulen, Joachim Schmid, Penelope Umbrico, Useful Photography, Charlie White, Ann Woo and Mark Wyse are accompanied by the textual contributions of Adam Bell (Co-editor, The Education of a Photographer), Lesley A. Martin (Publisher/Editor, Aperture Foundation), Alex Klein (Editor, Words Without Pictures), artists Noel Rodo-Vankeulen and Arthur Ou, as well as an interview with James Welling by Lyle Rexer (Author, The Edge of Vision: The Rise of Abstraction in Photography).”

Wallet (Mac & iPhone)

I thought it was time to recommend this application that has made my life 100% easier when it comes to keeping track of logins & passwords and other sensitive information for both work and personal things on my Mac. There are a lot of these types of programs but this is the most simple and works the best for me.

Wallet is a really simple organized notepad for all your sensitive information like website logins, email address login/passwords, bank account numbers, anything you want to store. It’s all protected by a master password with 256-bit AES encryption so it’s safe.

It’s easy to sync to MobileMe or WebDav (you can also easily Export the DB file or use Time Machine) to keep everything backed up and allows syncing via the iPhone app. It even helps you generate passwords that you use for signing up for a new site (so I save it then and there and it’s safe so I never lose it.) Once you have everything stored you can click the password and it will auto copy it to your clipboard to easily paste into the login field and also has Auto-fill for Safari.

You can get Wallet for Mac OSX ($20.00) and iPhone/iPod Touch ($4.99) which will sync with your Mac via MobileMe or WebDav.

Thank you to Brad for getting it for me.

Doodle Jump For iPhone

Doodle Jump for iPhone is one of the cheapest and most played games on my iPhone. It’s so addictive and it makes me really upset when I fall to my doom, but I keep playing it. The game is simple, you just jump forever, that’s it. You can shoot creatures, use jet packs, spinning hats, while trying to get the highest possible score you can get by getting as high up as you can.

They tend to update this game more than any other game I have, adding little extras here and there. They even have holiday themed versions like the Christmas one where by entering your name as “Snow” it then turns into a holiday themed version where you can shoot snowballs, wear a santa hat and more.

Download it now at the iTunes App Store ($0.99)
