I love Pavement, one of my all time favorites. I think the last book I actually read all the way through was Perfect Sound Forever.
This hour long documentary, directed by Lance Bangs, chronicles the development of one of the 90’s best alternative bands, from their beginnings as the Bag of Bones to their dismantling in 1999.

Just as most places are getting colder and Thanksgiving just a few days away, Matt Pond PA releases a great free EP called The Freeep which is perfect for this time of year. I was just wondering what they’d been up to. Read on their blog why this EP is free and watch a new video for their song “People Have A Way.” (thanks m.o.k.b.)
You can download The Freeep directly here.

Old Canes record Early Morning Hymns came out on Second Nature Recordings back in 2004. I’m still listening, loving it and I’m just not sure enough people know about it. It’s a great fall meets winter record.
About:
“Appleseed Cast frontman, Chris Crisci, departs from space rock and moody atmospherics for a multi-instrumental fuzz-folk masterpiece featuring the talents of Jordan Geiger (Minus Story) and Nathan Richardson (The Casket Lottery). Layers of home-recorded toy pianos, glockenspiels, children’s xylophones, trumpets, and cellos combine with the traditional folk-rock instrumentation…”

I haven’t stopped listening to In Ear Park by Department Of Eagles since I got it, so I’m excited that they did a Daytrotter session with 2 unreleased songs and 3 tracks from the album. Also if you’re not familiar with Daytrotter, you should be checking it out, it’s great.

I wish I could describe Wilderness to you, but it’s nearly impossible. They are from Baltimore, MD, they’re totally bizarre, and their new record is called (k)no(w)here which is their 4th release.
I’d listen to it really loud and close your eyes.

So this is one of my most recent favorites, I haven’t stopped listening to In Ear Park by Department Of Eagles since it came out a few weeks ago. I’d suggest you should probably walk around New York or lay in a park while listening to it. I highly recommend this record, especially if you like Grizzly Bear since it’s Daniel Rossen OF Grizzly Bear. If you don’t know either of these bands, you should check them out now.

I’ve been buying Her Space Holiday records since I found out it was Marc Bianchi from Indian Summer. Though this music is NOTHING like that, I was pretty excited to keep up with what he was doing.
Really having a good time with this record. Listened to it twice all the way through this weekend in the park, sounds good there.

For ONE WEEK only over at Pitchfork TV they are showing the documentary Love Story. I only discovered the band LOVE after I heard the song “Alone Again Or” from the movie Bottle Rocket (which I posted below.) Then Kurt told me to buy Forever Changes and I loved it all (it’s even my ringtone, kind of amazing.)
A little about Love Story: “Love Story offers a detailed retrospective of the influential band Love. Directed by Chris Hall & Mike Kerry, the documentary features extensive interviews with Arthur Lee and other original band members”
