Mike Perry launches his new website, with new work, and a new domain name over at mikeperrystudio.com.
Not only is Mike a great friend of mine, but one of my favorite artists. He’s recently released his book of hand drawn patterns titled Over and Over and before that released Hand Job a book of handdrawn type, which are both beautiful.

Little Paper Planes just updated their site with a “slew” of new zines. Pictured is Free Mag 001 by Scott Massey. Check them all out here. I know they are getting ready for a little Holiday Gift Guide, so look out for that soon!
Though this doesn’t have a date on it, I’m pretty sure the Western State video series was happening between 2001 and 2004. (I remember discovering it when I was in photography school.)
When I first saw the Andy Mueller video it was so inspiring to see his process from design to photography that it got me hooked on keeping up with everything he does. Jason Gnewikow (of The Promise Ring) was another one, had loved his design, loved the music he made, so it was really cool to see a video showcasing all of that. Geoff McFetridge’s work I’d known and it was cool to see him speak about it. So go check all of these out. (In the Andy Mueller video you’ll see him taking the photo for the Pinebender album cover to the right.)
“Western State is an ongoing series of documentaries. Each examines an artist who approaches his work in a non-traditional way. The artists featured are difficult to categorize. Technology and media foster a rich, multidisciplinary approach. Western State, describes this culture of creativity through personal and engaging profiles of many of its leading practitioners.”

Let me introduce you to the work of Elisabeth Dunker. She seems to do it all, and very well. We happily own a print of hers from Little Paper Planes and it’s beautiful, check that out too. Oh and she also has a blog, so stay up to date.

Mike Perry has done it again with another book he’s put together called Over & Over - A Catalog Of Patterns. His last book Handjob was a book full of hand drawn type from very talented artists. You can check that out here.
“Over and Over: A Catalog of Hand-Drawn Patterns collects groundbreaking work from fifty of today’s most talented designers who create patterns by hand and use them in their work in inventive and innovative ways. From Deanne Cheuk’s patterns that adorn current fashion to those of Robin Cameron that explore her interest in art to Garrett Morin’s patterns that arose from an exercise for a character called Eloie, the examples in this book push the boundaries of the traditional concept of what a pattern is.”
You can pre-order Over & Over now at Amazon for $23.99.
