San Francisco’s Girls performing Lust For Life on Don’t Look Down via Pitchfork.TV. Still my favorite song from their new LP Album.
Monthly Archive for September, 2009
I’ve spent a few weeks now with this Capybara record Try Brother record that my friend Nathan put out on The Record Machine and I’m ready to tell everyone to get it. It’s a great end of summer getting into fall release. They look to be amazing live too from this video of them performing at KCOU. Check out their West Coast tour dates, they seem to be adding more along the way.

Ladies and Gentlemen I’d like to introduce you to Zac Little.
Zac sings and plays instruments in the band Saintseneca who I just had the honor (with the help of Kurt Lane) of releasing their new 4 song 7″ / digital EP which is out now on Paper Brigade. Zac lives in Columbus, OH and I hope to someday hang out with the talented awesome guy since we’ve known each other for a few months now. Here’s a little check in with him where he talks about the recent tour, new record, and more.
You can listen to more Saintseneca at Myspace, check out the new record at Paper Brigade and read their tour blog here.
Rubin: What are you currently working on or just finished that you’re excited about?
Little: I can’t tell you how excited I am about the release of this 7″. It’s been quite the process from beginning to end, and when you take into account the time we’ve spent writing and recording the songs, it’s probably taken more up more of my time in the past year than anything else. That moment when we opened the box of records and then sat on the couch and listened to them was like magic.
I’ve also been working on some other things like designing and screen printing some posters for the 7″ release show. Saintseneca is playing this little festival called DIT (do it together) fest, Grace and I have been working on making t-shirts with a pocket in the shape of Ohio to sell.
I also just finished moving, which I’m very excited about. I now live in a house with 11 people, which is awesome. Before, I was living alone. You can’t play hide and seek alone in a small apartment. Well you could, but it would suck. We’ve already had a good round of lights out hide and seek here.
Back in 2003 when Paper Brigade was a photography website we did features of photographers I was into.
This is a feature from 2003 of photographer / artist Cynthia Connolly with a short interview by photographer Pat Graham. I was excited when I found this archived by Ricky Irvine and I wanted to share.
When I was in high school in Kansas, at age 15, I was washing dishes at Boardroom BBQ (we had a “sauce of the month club” it was amazing) where I saved up enough money to put out a split 7″ by The Anniversary and Proudentall who were both really great Kansas bands.
I pressed 500 copies on the label Paper Brigade Records in 1998 with the songs Alright For Now by The Anniversary and Say Something by Proudentall. I have no idea where they all went but they’re all gone. I know The Anniversary used their song Alright For Now on another 7″ they toured with and their 2 disc discography Devil On Our Side: B-Sides & Rarities that recently came out so you can hear non vinyl version on that.
So I wanted to post this since I re-started the label back up yesterday with the Saintseneca – 4 song 7″/ digital EP which you should also check out. Enjoy!
