(Part of The Weekly Check In series)

Since Cale Parks has a 2nd record, Sparklace that comes out in November on Polyvinyl Records I thought I’d check in with him to see what he’s up to.
I discovered who Cale was when I fell in love with the band he was in Aloha (who was also on Polyvinyl.) I’ve since then picked up his first solo record Illuminated Manuscripts, White Williams (who he tours with,) and now I’m excited about his upcoming solo record. Keep up with him.
Listen to a track off his new record, Sparklace out 11/4.

RR: What are you currently working on or just finished that you’re excited about?
Parks: I’m on tour in White Williams, supporting Vampire Weekend. I have a new solo full length coming out Nov 4 on Polyvinyl and another full length later this winter via the upstart Normative Music Co. I’m also going on my first ever solo tour in Nov. I’m pretty ecstatic about everything right now really!
RR: Where have you traveled so far this month?
Parks: As of tonight: Isle of Wight in England, Barcelona, Louisville, St Louis, Lawrence, Denver.
RR: What’s your favorite music right now?
Parks: Kate Bush always. T-Pain ft Lil’Wayne, “I Can’t Believe It”. Such amazing sounds all over this radio fun jam. Burger/Ink- “Las Vegas”. Chill ambient techno. Fantastic bass sounds. That Clannad track, “Harry’s Game”. It’s Enya’s first band I think. My dad also likes this song. A friend described it as kind of a new age Fairport Convention. I also can’t stop listening to the new album, “Money” by Skeletons from Brooklyn. They’re the most relevant prog band around these days.
RR: Best food you’ve had in your neighborhood lately or while you were traveling?
Parks: I went on a wonderful date to Sweetwater at home in Brooklyn last week. The first time I went there I hated it. This last time, everything was perfect. The pork is outstanding.
RR: Anything Else You Want To Mention?
Parks: I’m sure I’ll think of something as soon as I send this. More importantly, thanks for having me sir!
