The Weekly Check In with Michael Angelakos (of Passion Pit)

(Part of The Weekly Check In series)

Michael Angelakos is the man behind Passion Pit (who I’m really into and I think anyone who hears them is too.) He was nice enough to do the Weekly Check In and here you go…

I’d listen to Sleepyhead by Passion Pit while you read this. It comes out 9/16 on Frenchkiss.

RR: What are you currently working on or just finished that you’re excited about?

Angelakos: The full-length, apparently slated for early 2009, is almost done. It’s a departure from the EP, and I’m very excited about this as it’s been well over a year since any of the EP was actually recorded. I think when we start bringing those songs to a live situation, it’ll serve as some sort of band rejuvenation. Our patience is wearing thin - we really can’t wait to introduce them live. I really love being in the studio - especially with my friends (Grant and Matt from Landau who are producing it with me). We’re at that stage where everything is really coming together. It’s always an exciting time.

RR: Where have you traveled so far this month?

Angelakos: It’s only been NYC. We’ve never toured, nor have we played a show further than NY.

RR: What’s your favorite music right now?

Angelakos: Arthur Russell just won’t go away. Also, Cocteau Twins - they’ve resurfaced for me. Bon Iver is great.

RR: Best food you’ve had in your neighborhood lately or while you were traveling?

Angelakos: I had this really good Tilapia here in Cambridge at this restaurant called Red House.

RR: Anything Else You Want To Mention?

Angelakos: Less is more.
